Description

The GREATER project aims to address Rwanda's energy challenges by fostering innovation and capacity building in the renewable energy sector. The project focuses on:

Curriculum Development: Designing and implementing innovative curricula in smart and green energy technologies to equip the next generation of energy professionals.

Living Lab Establishment: Creating real-world learning environments, or "living labs," to provide hands-on experience with renewable energy solutions. These labs will serve as hubs for experimentation, innovation, and community engagement.

Community Engagement: Involving local communities in the project to promote awareness of renewable energy technologies and their benefits. This includes workshops, training sessions, and outreach activities to empower individuals and foster a sense of ownership in sustainable energy solutions.

International Collaboration: Fostering strong partnerships between European and Rwandan institutions to share knowledge, expertise, and resources.

By combining academic excellence with practical application, the GREATER project aims to empower Rwanda to achieve a sustainable energy future.

Work Packages

WP1 - Management and coordination

The Management activity aims to create a framework into which all the tasks of GREATER will be correctly implemented.

WP2 - Collaboration Design

WP2 specifically focuses on fostering collaboration among academic partners and community stakeholders, including local and national businesses, institutions, students, and cultural and social organizations, by introducing User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies.

WP3 - Infrastructures

WP3 deals with actual design and implementation of infrastructures supporting practical training, including classroom labs and living labs.

WP4 - Curricula Design

WP4 carries out educational design, with specific tasks devoted to each Rwandan partner. Starting from concepts and guidelines elicited by WP2, a common design path will be followed, with local teams being backed by EU HEIs in drafting new curricula. Besides brand new curricula, existing ones will undergo quite a radical innovation, with  particular emphasis to be placed on smart-energy contents (digitalization, IoT, simulation and sensing techniques), as well as on effective practical learning enabled by labs introduced in WP3.

WP5 - Training and coaching

WP5 deals with providing participating faculty with the upgraded and advanced competences needed for the delivery of new programs devised in WP4. Staff and students mobility is fereseen in this framework.

WP6 - Transfer methodologies

WP6 is dedicated to ensuring the long-term sustainability and impact of GREATER's outcomes, focusing on both business stakeholders and the broader community. A key emphasis is placed on engaging young people, recognizing their potential as both beneficiaries of and contributors to a sustainable energy future.

WP7 - Impact and dissemination

WP7 will oversee and coordinate the project's dissemination strategy, utilizing a variety of channels with a strong emphasis on engaging young audiences through digital platforms.
