Two Weeks Short Course in Germany at H-BRS & HN
Participants from four Rwandan universities and the University of Parma in Italy recently completed a two-week short course in Germany as part of the GREATER (Growing Rwandan Energy Awareness Through Higher Education) Project. This training aimed at advancing knowledge in energy technology and management while strengthening collaborations among international academic partners. The first week of the course took place at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) from April 15-19, 2024. Workshops and presentations focused on sustainable energy, innovation, and practical skills needed to enhance energy education and awareness. Participants had the opportunity to tour the university’s facilities, gaining insight into the technical expertise offered by H-BRS. For the second week, from April 22-26, 2024, the group moved to Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences (HN). During their time at HN (Krefeld), participants engaged in diverse activities, including visits to the SWK E² Institute for Energy Technology and Energy Management, campus tours, and a series of lectures and workshops on collaboration with industry and practice-oriented learning. The week culminated in the GREATER Project’s 3rd General Assembly, where participants discussed progress on the Living Labs and degree program revisions, as well as future project plans. This short course marked a critical step forward in GREATER’s mission to elevate energy education in Rwanda, fostering deeper collaboration with global partners. The experience enriched participants with new ideas and practices, paving the way for continued development and successful implementation of project goals.
